The Saints had a perfect day on the courts as the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team swept SUNY Oneonta 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Newell Field House.
The Saints moved to 1-1 on the season in what was the first win for head coach
Tavis Rieger on the men's side. Oneonta fell to 4-3 with the loss.
In doubles play,
Adam Heilbronner and
Broderick Pinto at number one took an 8-2 win over August Lepique and William Schmid, while
Ben Moolman and
Jake David secured an 8-1 win over Chris Chippari and Noah Khair at number two. At three,
Edvin Strandberg and
John Hill-Edgar earned an 8-0 sweep over Zachary Blaakman and Nathaniel Inzerrilo.
In singles play, the tandem of Heilbronner and Pinto went to 2-0 on the day winning in the first and second spots respectively.
Cole Hamilton occupied the third spot and took on Chippari winning 6-1, 6-1, while Moolman took a 6-0, 6-1 at four against Khair.
In the final two spots, Hill-Edgar and Strandberg also moved to 2-0 on the day with convincing wins at five and six.
The team will be back in action next Saturday when the team dips their toes in Liberty League action with a match against Skidmore.
