John Hill-Edgar and
Edvin Strandberg each went 2-0 on the day, but it was not enough as the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team fell 5-4 to Saint Michael's on Thursday evening in the Newell Field House.
St. Lawrence fell to 0-1 on the year, while the Purple Knights improved to 4-5.
The Scarlet and Brown would start the match on the right foot going 2-1 in doubles play. At number two,
Ben Moolman and
Jake David took on Jack Li and Garrett Brooker and claimed an 8-5 win. At three, Strandberg and Hill-Edgar took on Ruben Weijer and Sam Papovsky and took the 8-3 victory.
Saints Michael's would bounce back in singles play winning the number 1-4 spots.
At five, Hill-Edgar took on Weijer and won 6-1, 6-3, then at six, Strandberg cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Papovsky.
The Saints will be back at Newell Field House on Saturday when the team welcomes SUNY Oneonta to the Newell Field House.
