The St. Lawrence University field hockey team dropped a conference game 3-0 at the hands of the Union Garnet Chargers in a late Friday evening contest in Schenectady, N.Y.
The Saints have their conference record drop to 2-4 with the loss, and 5-9 overall.
The game began with Union registering the first 18 shots of the game, scoring three early goals in the process to take a 3-0 lead. This included the 15
th of the season from Maddie Greco to open the scoring, then Reese Fendelet and Shaelyn Kelly added to the lead before halftime for the Garnet Chargers.
The Saints were able to play a disciplined defensive game in the second half, and limited Union to their 3-0 lead. That wound up as the final score, with Union having the shot advantage 23-3 in the game.
Cara Vredenburg kept her team in the game, making 12 saves to equal her second-highest total of the season.
The Saints now head home for their senior day, when they host the No. 22 nationally-ranked Ithaca Bombers Sunday afternoon at Hall-Leet Stadium.
