Elizabeth Flynn recorded her second straight double double and the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team scored 12 unanswered points at the start of the second half, leading to a 66-50 win over Clarkson in midweek Liberty League action Tuesday evening.
The win further improves the Saints' conference record to 6-4, and their overall record to 7-9. The win puts them into sole possession of fourth in the Liberty League as they pass the halfway mark of conference play here in late January.
The win is the second in a row for St. Lawrence, as the Saints were led in both points and boards by first-year Flynn. It was her second double double in a row and fourth in her last six games. Flynn has recorded at least 10 rebounds in all but two contests.
Clarkson jumped out in front early, but the teams traded points to finish up rhe first quarter tied at 11. The Saints went from trading points to taking control of the game in the second, scoring the quarter's first eight points to piece together a 10-0 run. Clarkson closed the gap to three before the end of the half.
The Saints then continued to score in bunches, stringing together 12 unanswered points. That lead would continue to build, with the Saints recording a lead as large as 21 at one point in the second half. Clarkson was able to get on the board again late to keep the final score spread at 16.
St. Lawrence continues an active January when they return to Burkman Gymnasium on the weekend with contests against Bard and Vassar on Friday and Saturday respectively.
