Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Match at Ithaca

Senior captain Ben Woelfinger made four saves in goal for St. Lawrence, but a first half tally from the Bombers sent the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 1-0 loss at Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints went to 3-3-2 and 1-1-0 in the Liberty League with the loss, while the Bombers improved to 4-2-2 and 2-1-0 in league action.

"The team was flat today and did not match the competitive fire that came from Ithaca, bottom line." said head coach Mike Toshack "Fortunately for us, we get to play again in four days against Clarkson with a chance to make things right."

Despite the shot totals, the Saints were able to generate some good offense in the first half. Max Mogul had the first look on goal in the 9th minute, but his strike to the bottom right corner of the woodwork was stopped.

Woelfinger then came up with a pair of big saves to keep the score at 0-0. Henry Hart was able to get another shot on net at 27:46 of the half, but the Bombers were able to quickly transition with a goal a minute later. Jared Krasnove finished off a feed from Reede Harrison to give his team the lead.

Woelfinger and the Saints' defense able to force all of Ithaca's chances wide except for one in the second half, but St. Lawrence was unable to generate a shot in their search for an equalizer.

The senior keeper finished the game with four saves, while Bombers' goalkeeper Ian Whitfield stopped the two shots that found him.

The Scarlet and Brown will have a quick turnaround as the team heads up Route 11 to Hantz Field to take on Clarkson in a 7:00 p.m. match on Wednesday, October 4.
