Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Snode Posts Third Straight Clean Sheet in 0-0 Tie Versus RPI

Senior goalkeeper Keely Snode made seven saves, posted her third straight shutout, and extended her shutout streak to over 384 minutes as the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie against Rensselaer at ECAV Stadium in Troy, N.Y.

The Scarlet and Brown moved to 3-2-3 overall and 1-0-1 in Liberty League play with the draw, while the Engineers stayed undefeated at 4-0-3 and went to 0-0-1 in league action.

"It was a solid team performance and a great game to be a part of," said head coach Sinead McSharry "Both teams were relentless and made it an exciting game. Overall, we're happy with our performance on the road this week."

Both teams were hungry from the onset of today's contest generating dangerous chances early. RPI's Gwen Barnes had the first opportunity of the day but saw her shot sail wide of Snode. Grace Mochnal countered with a shot of her own that was stopped by Megan Wampner. IN the opening 10 minutes, Meredith Donahue also had a look at the goal, but her attempt sailed left.

The Engineers made a late push to get on the scoreboard, getting three shots on the Saints' woodwork. Snode was up to the task standing tall on all three looks. Lily Pleau nearly broke the scoring the other way in the 39th minute with a strike that went right of Wampner.

In the 68th minute, the Scarlet and Brown would once again find the frame when Zoe Rogan put a shot to the bottom left of the woodwork but was stymied. With RPI hemmed in, Kaitlyn Barton also got a shot off but was turned away by Wampner.

The Engineers continued to push but Snode and the Saints' defense was stout in the waning minutes.

Emma Reynolds had the last great look to score in the contest with a shot in the final five minutes. The shot missed the goalkeeper, but a save was made by an RPI defender as the game went to 0-0.

The clean sheet was the third in a row for Snode and the 11th of her stellar career. Wampner also earned a shutout making three saves in the contest.

RPI held the 16-10 shot edge and led 7-4 in shots on goal.

The Saints, who have played 10 of their last 13 game son the road dating back to last season, will finally return home to the friendly confines of Sandy MacAllaster Field next Saturday, September 30 to take on Ithaca College at 3:00 p.m.
