Baseball Drops Midweek Game At Hamilton 11-1

Box Score Sean Desjardins drove in the lone run for the Saints, who left 13 runners on base as the St. Lawrence University baseball team fell to 11-1 to Hamilton on Wednesday afternoon in Clinton, N.Y.

The Saints fell to 9-18 with the loss, while the Continentals improved to 17-11.

St. Lawrence didn't waste time getting runners on base as Caleb Clark and Jackson Brinker made their way aboard and worked their way to second and third. The threat would come to pass without a run on the board. The Saints would leave two more on base in the top of the second before Hamilton jumped on the scoreboard.

The bottom of the second started with a fly out for the Continentals, but the next batter hit a solo home run to left field to break the tie. A single, hit by pitch, sacrifice bunt, and a walk would load the bases for Kaufman, who brought two runners home with a single down the right field line. Hamilton's Harrast would extend the lead to 6-0 with a three-run home run to cap off the onslaught.

The Scarlet and Brown once again threatened in the next half-inning with a Timothy Connor double and a Clark single to start things off. A Jimmy Liberatore walk would load the bags but the Saints were again unable to capitalize.

Hamilton was able to extend their lead further in the fourth inning scoring a run on a pair of bases loaded walks, and a sacrifice fly ballooning the lead to 9-0.

St. Lawrence broke the zero on the scoreboard in the fifth when Sean Desjardins singled home Clark, who got on base with a walk. However, another solo home run in the seventh would put Hamilton back up nine at 10-1.

The Saints would once again get traffic in the eighth with a Noah Bolduc single, and a Stephen Colangelo walk with just one out. Back-to-back strikeouts would end another chance to get runners home for St. Lawrence. A sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning firther put the game out of reach for Hamilton making the score 11-1.

Huck Haun pitched the first two innings of the game giving up four hits and striking out one. Sam Fosberg would pitch the third inning giving up no runs and two hits. John Igoe, Jared Brenner, Brenden O'Neil, James Morr, and Joshua Polumbo would each pitch an inning a piece the rest of the way to close out the contest. O'Neil would provide a strikeout, while Polumbo punched out two Continentals.

The Scarlet and Brown will be back in action this weekend when the team plays a home-and-home three-game series against Clarkson University with massive playoff implications on the line.
