No. 14 Bantams Top No. 25 Saints in Sunday Matinee

The 14th-ranked Trinity Bantams topped the No. 25 St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team 14-6 in a Sunday non-conference matinee at North Country Field.

Jacqui Cloutier led the Scarlet and Brown with two goals, four ground balls, three draw control wins and three caused turnovers, while Liz Evans, Charlotte Powell, Morgan Arakelian and Ellie Camp all scored for the Saints. Evans and Maggie Green both tallied assists on the afternoon.

The Saints struck first, as Evans tallied her 11th goal of the season, but the Bantams would score the next five to take a 5-1 lead after the first quarter.

Cloutier scored the next for the Scarlet and Brown, adding the first goal of the second frame, but Trinity went on another run, scoring the next six to lead 9-2 at the half and 11-2 to start the third quarter.

The Saints scored the only goals in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bantams 3-0, but the early lead from Trinity secured the win.



Lily Ives led Trinity with five goals, while three other Bantams netted two and assisted on another. Caitlyn Buermann and Molly Broderick each caused three turnovers.

Raelynn Bovenzi finished with seven saves for the Saints, while Courtney Lynn made four. Alyssa Vitale started in net for Trinity and made two, while Ali Macdougall made three.

The Bantams outshot the Saints 30-18, including 25-11 in shots on goal. Trinity also picked up 25 ground balls to St. Lawrence's 21. The Saints edged the Bantams in draws 12-11.

St. Lawrence fell to 3-5 on the season, while Trinity improved to 7-2.

The Saints are scheduled to host Union on Friday, April 4 at 4 p.m.
