On a sunny senior day in Canton, N.Y., the St. Lawrence women's tennis team came away with a 9-0 victory over Bard at the Sammis Tennis Courts.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 7-5 with the win and 3-3 in Liberty League play. Bard fell to 3-11, and 0-8 in conference action with the loss.
After the matches, both tennis teams celebrated the Class of 2023 in seniors
Caitlyn Avery,
Catherine Gamble, and
Emily Harris.
In doubles, the tandems of Gamble/Molly Jesperesen at number one, and Harris/Avery at number two each earned 8-1 wins to start the day. At three,
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and
Elena Styliades took an 8-0 sweep.
Jespersen and Harris both earned their second wins of the day in singles at numbers one and two respectively. Both took their wins by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
At three,
Meredith Macey took on Paige Houghton and took a 6-1, 6-0 win, then at number four
Maya Stepic won 6-0, 6-0 against Victoria Bagatcholon.
Abigail Sicuranza played in the five-spot earning a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lexi Sanchez, while
Alexandra Fuller took a 6-1, 6-0 win at number six.
The Saints will wrap up their regular season next weekend when they take on Ithaca on Saturday, April 22 then William Smith College on Sunday, April 23.
