Molly Jespersen and
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen each won both of their matches to lead the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team to a 5-4 win over Luther College on Tuesday afternoon in Orlando, Florida.
St. Lawrence improved to 3-2 with the victory, while the Norse fell to 14-7.
The Scarlet and Brown did well in the Doubles round taking a 2-1 lead. At one
Catherine Gamble and Jespersen took on Sofia Sackett and Natalia Smith. The duo came away with the 8-5 win. At number three, Aksdal-Jansen and
Elena Styliades lined up against Lexi Hastings and Abby Struble taking an 8-5 win of their own.
The Norse won the top two singles matches but the Scarlet and Brown first-years came up big at three and four. At three, Jespersen swept Julia Moreno 6-0, 6-0, then at number four Aksdal-Jansen saw similar success winning 6-0, 6-1. The Saints' fifth win came at number five where senior
Emily Harris took down Abby Ostermann 7-5, 6-2.
The Saints will be back on the court tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. to take on Hope College.
