The St. Lawrence University baseball team was on the wrong side of a sweep as the Saints fell 11-1, and 10-2 to Hamilton College on Monday afternoon at the Russmatt Invitational in Davenport, Florida.
St. Lawrence fell to 2-3 on the year, while Hamilton improved to 4-6 with the wins. Â Â
Jackson Brinker provided the lone RBI in game one, while
Timothy Connor and
Noah Bolduc provided a pair of RBI in game two.
Game 1: St. Lawrence 1, Hamilton 11
Following a 1-2-3 top of the first for the Saints, Hamilton was able to jump on the board early. A leadoff single turned into a threat following a sacrifice bunt and a groundout. Jackson Sattinger would bring the run home with a single to take the lead.

The Continentals would double the lead with a bases loaded fielder's choice, then in the bottom of the fourth would get three more runs off a balk, a double and a single bringing the score to 5-0.

Brinker would drive in
Sean Desjardins from the base paths in the top of the fifth to get St. Lawrence on the board.

Hamilton continued to chip away with two more runs in the fifth from a sacrifice fly and an error before putting the game out of reach in the sixth. Greg Kopp singled home a run before Sattinger hit a three-run home run to bring the game to 11-1.

Brenden O'Neil started on the hill for the Saints pitching three innings giving up two runs on three hits and two balls. First-year
Philip Centineo pitched his first two innings in Scarlet and Brown striking out three batters.
John Igoe pitched the final inning for St. Lawrence.

Max Cloutier also earned his first career hit in the game as a pinch hitter and stole a base while on the paths.
Game 2: St. Lawrence 2, Hamilton 10
Hamilton continued their hot play at the top of game two applying four runs in the first inning. Kopp singled home the first run of the inning before a bases-loaded hit by pitch and a two-run single brought the score to 4-0.

The Continentals added a run on the board in the second and fourth innings to extend the lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Connor hit his first career home run over the right field fence to cut into the lead and make the game 6-1.

Hamilton would score four more runs in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 10-1.

In the bottom of the seventh,
Eoin Morrissey smacked a single to left field for his first career hit, while fellow rookie
Tynan Creagh earned his second hit of the game to advance him to second. This led to the junior catcher Bolduc registering his first career hit as well as he scored Morrissey across the plate with a single to bring the game to 10-2.

James Morr earned his first collegiate start in the game going one and a third innings giving up three hits and striking out one. Relievers
Danny Collins,
Brendan Karadenes,
JJ Humenay, and
Jared Brenner finished up the contest pitching a combined five and two-thirds innings giving up two hits, striking out four and giving up five runs.

The Scarlet and Brown will have the day off tomorrow and will resume play on Wednesday, March 22 when they will take on Union College in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. Â Â
