Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey Drops 4-0 Contest On The Road At Yale

Cameron Buhl and Jan Lasak put seven shots on goal and the team out shot their opponent, but they were unable to score as the St. Lawrence University men's hockey team fell 4-0 to Yale on Saturday night in New Haven, Conn. at Ingalls Rink.

The Saints fell back to .500 with the loss at 14-14-0 and are now 9-7-0 in the ECAC. Yale improved to 5-14-4 on the year and 4-10-2 in league play.

Yale wasted little time building off their Friday win getting on the board 3:10 into the game. Ian Carpentier skated from behind the St. Lawrence goal and threaded a pass through the Saints' defense to William Dineen, who put Yale up 1-0.

St. Lawrence was finally able to get some pressure on the Yale net with Felikss Gavars, and Lasak getting good looks on Luke Pearson but were turned aside. The Saints then went on the power play, but was only able to get one Luc Salem shot through to the frame. Following the man-advantage the team pestered the Bulldogs' net but were unable to get a goal before the break.

With St. Lawrence continuing to push, Yale was able to extend their lead despite the pressure. Carpentier was fed a pass by Kiernan O'Hearn and went 1-on-1 with the Saints' defense. The forward shot just as Emil Zetterquist through a poke check allowing the puck to slip over the shoulder of the goaltender and make it a 2-0 game.

Later in the second, Niklas Allain made it a 3-0 game when he buried a loose puck to put his team up three.

Yale got their fourth of the game just 1:14 into the third when Kalen Szeto buried off a feed from Teddy Wooding.
St. Lawrence was able to generate good offense in bursts in the remaining 20 minutes but were ultimately unable to solve Pearson.

Zetterquist made 20 saves in the game, while Pearson made 25 saves in his second shutout of the weekend.

The Saints went 0-for-2 on the power play, while the Bulldogs went 1-for-2. St. Lawrence had the narrow 25-24 advantage in shots.

The Skating Saints will be back in action next Friday, February 10 when they play host to Princeton University at Appleton Arena before taking on highly-ranked Quinnipiac on Saturday.
