The Saints started their spring season off with a bang as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team swept SUNY Oneonta 9-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Newell Field House.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 1-0 in dual matches with the win, while the Red Dragons went to 8-3.
In number one Doubles,
Catherine Gamble and
Molly Jespersen started the day with an 8-2 win over Julia Holtermann and Maxie Karen. It was the same result at number three as
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen teamed up with
Elena Styliades to take down Daniell Copp and Jessica Harris 8-2.
Caitlyn Avery and
Emily Harris provided the third doubles win with an 8-3 victory over Brianna Shaw and Sophia Schutte.
In Singles, Jespersen (No. 3), Aksdal-Jansen (No. 4), and Harris (No. 5) secured perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweeps to put the Saints over the edge.
At number one, Gamble took down Holtermann 6-1, 6-1, while at number two, Avery took her match 6-1, 6-0 over Schutte. In the final match of the day at number six,
Meredith Macey took a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Copp.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back in action next weekend when they host SUNY Geneseo and Skidmore at the Newell Field House.
