Adam Dudzinski continued his torrid pace to start the season, adding a team-high 27 points in a convincing 90-66 win for the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team over Plattsburgh State in front of a boisterous home opener crowd at Burkman Gymnasium.
While head coach
Chris Downs was encouraged by the victory, he noted the opposition's ability to score from beyond the arc.
"It was a good win tonight," said Downs. "It's clear that our offense is ahead of our defense. We won't be able to continue allowing teams to shoot 40 per cent from the arc and expect to win any games."
After leading the first half by 14 points, the team didn't let up in the second, thwarting all of Plattsburgh's attempts at reigning in their lead. The Saints limited the Cardinals' scoring to 30 points while they outscored them with 40.
The Macaulay twins, juniors Gavin and Aidan also had noteworthy performances with Gavin scoring 16 points, and Aidan scoring 13 points. Team Captain and senior
Trey Syroka had five assists throughout the game and landed six rebounds.
The men's record for the season now stands at 2-0. With a strong team of returning players from last season, the Saints have done well so far to defend the notoriety they received last year when they made their first appearance in NCAA tournament since 2017.
The men will travel for their next game to Williamstown, Mass. on Friday, Nov. 17 to play St. Joseph's-Long Island at 8 p.m. in the Williams Purple & Gold Classic. The Saints will stay in Williamstown, Mass. to play Williams College the next day on the 18
