A two-point day from RIT's Jessie Gomez sent the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-0 loss on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, N.Y.
Â
The Saints fell to 4-4-3 with the loss and 1-2-1 in Liberty League action, while the Tigers improved to 5-4-2 and remain undefeated in league play at 3-0-1.
Â
Meredith Donahue was able to get the first shot of the game off for the Saints but her strike to the upper 90 was knocked away by Tiger's goalkeeper Emily Sanchez.
Â
RIT would waste little time after that to get their first goal in the 14th minute. The Tigers' Gomez scored the unassisted goal at 13:32 to give her team the lead.
Â
Less than five minutes later, Gomez would help her teammate get a goal and Olivia Harris took the Gomez feed and buried her shot to double the lead.
Â
Lilly Stone had a chance to cut into the lead later in the second half, but Sanchez stood tall to stop the effort.
Â
The Scarlet and Brown were unable to get another shot off the rest of the contest as the game went to final.
Â
Keely Snode made three saves for the Saints, while Sanchez stopped two in the clean sheet.
Â
St. Lawrence will head home for a pair of conference matches next weekend when the Saints host Vassar on Friday, October 13, and Bard on October 14.
