Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

McDougald and Brown Score in 3-2 Loss at Hobart

The Saints took a 2-1 lead off goals from Michael McDougald and Henry Brown, but two goals from Hobart in the final 30 minutes sent the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 3-2 loss on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, N.Y.

St. Lawrence moved to 7-5-4 on the year and 5-3-1 in Liberty League play. The Saints, who were playing for the regular season title in the game will be the fourth seed in the Liberty League tournament next week.

Hobart would get the goal scoring started in the 21st minute when Frederick Madsen took a Quinn Phillips pass and buried the shot to put the Statesmen up 1-0.

The Scarlet and Brown would knot up the contest in the 40th minute when a foul near the Hobart goal gave the Saints their second dangerous free kick. After hitting the wall on the first effort, McDougald curled his kick around the wall and past the goalkeeper to tie the game at 1-1.

In the second half, the Statesmen would once again take a costly penalty, this time putting the Scarlet and Brown on the penalty kick line. The first-year Brown came through clutch with the goal to take the lead.

Less than six minutes later Madsen would find the scoresheet again this time feeding La Zai Outerbridge for an equalizing goal.

The Saints, who needed the win to take the league title went for the goal to take the lead once again, but Hobart's Amad Miller would score in the 75th minute to give Hobart the win.

Ben Woelfinger made three saves in the game for the Saints, while Guillermo Castaneda Chang made one save on three saves and had a card on the penalty in the box.

The Saints, who earned the fourth seed, will host a first round at Sandy MacAllaster Field this coming week and will be searching for their third straight Liberty League Tournament title.
