Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to Clarkson 2-0

The Saints were able to generate some good offensive chances, but two second half goals for the Knights sent the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-0 loss to Clarkson on Tuesday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

St. Lawrence fell to 7-5-4 on the year with the loss and 3-3-2 in Liberty League play, while the Knights improved to 10-4-2 and leveled their league record at 4-4-0.

The Scarlet and Brown jumped on Clarkson to start the contest creating early chances. At the center of the push was sophomore Meredith Donahue, who saw her first shot sail wide in the first minute, then had two shots on the woodwork in the next ten minutes that were stopped by Molly DiCaprio.

Also, in on the early attack was Grace Mochnal, who also had a good look that was stymied. Clarkson would turn the tide and get the next three shots on goal in the opening half, but all of their attempts were thwarted by Keely Snode.

The Knights would continue to pressure in the second half, but it was Kaitlyn Barton, who was able to get a shot on frame only to be stopped.

Clarkson would break the tie at 63:45 when Arin bates lofted a high shot up and over the head of Snode off a pass from Chloe Hodge to take the lead.

The Scarlet and Brown had a pair of great chances ten minutes later to tie the contest as Madison King-Thurber found herself alone with the keeper out of the goal. King-Thurber lofted a shot that would eventually go off the post. She would have another look moments later with a header, but her attempt went just wide.

Instead, it was the Knights, who would take a two-goal lead. Lillian Gillett found herself with a long-range shot that was stopped by Snode. The rebound popped out to Emma Robinson, who buried the shot to claim the 2-0 lead and put the game away.

Snode made eight saves in the game, while DiCaprio came away with five in her shutout.

St. Lawrence will wrap up their regular season this coming Saturday when the team welcomes No. 4 William Smith to Sandy MacAllaster Field for a 2:00 p.m. match. Before the contest, the St. Lawrence University women's soccer program will honor the members of the Class of 2024 for senior day.
