Pleau Scores Second Straight Game Winner in 2-0 Win Over Bard

Sophomore Lily Pleau scored her second straight game-winning goal as the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team defeated Bard 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

The Saints improved to 6-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in league play with the win, while the Raptors fell to 4-7-1 and 0-5-1 in league play.

In the first half, the Scarlet and Brown peppered the Bard net with a 10-3 advantage in shot attempts. Eight of the Saints' shots found the frame, but they were not able to score as Seymone Rosenberg made all eight saves.

It didn't take long in the second half for St. Lawrence to finally break the scoring with a goal at the 47:37 mark. The Saints were granted a corner kick which was taken by Grace Mochnal. The corner was headed by Pleau, who redirected the ball past the goalkeeper to break the 0-0 tie.

Later in the half in the 84th minute, the Saints would once again capitalize on a header as a cross from the left wing found Zoe Rogan, whose shot found the netting to put the Scarlet and Brown for good. First-year Sofia Manne earned her first career point assisting on the goal.

St. Lawrence earned the combined shutout in the contest with Keely Snode playing the first 77:48 and Darcie McDonough finishing the last 12:12 of the contest. McDonough stopped two shots while Snode faced no shots on frame in the game.

The Saints held a 19-8 edge in shots and had a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Scarlet and Brown also held a 9-1 corner kick edge.

St. Lawrence will head back to the road next week when the team heads to Utica University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
