The St. Lawrence University were swept by the University of Rochester, who remain undefeated in league play, on Saturday afternoon.
St. Lawrence 0, Rochester 7
The Saints are the best batting team in the league, but Rochester's Abbie Biggs held them to just two hits in game one.
Cora Ferguson singled to right center in the top of the second, and
Sofia Camillieri beat out an infield single in the seventh. Both were left stranded at first.
St. Lawrence 0, Rochester 4
In game two, Lauren Keys was in the circle and also kept the Saints' bats at bay. In the top of the fourth Ferguson hit a lead-off single, which was followed up with a Hopper single to put two on with no outs. Rochester got out of the jam with a grounded double play and a pop out.
Hopper got her second hit of the day in the seventh with a lead-off single up the middle, but was left stranded and the game ended 4-0.
Jacee Casebolt got the game one start, and
Sofia Berryhill started game two. Each pitched three innings, and relieved the other for three.
Head coach Rosie Phillips
"I don't think the box score reflects the fight we saw today, and we are still in a good place. We faced a good team with strong bats and we were able to stay in each inning. While we made great contact, they just didn't fall and we had a hard time stringing them together. Our games today will better prepare us for conference play throughout this final week."
Records: St. Lawrence (15-11, 3-6), Rochester (16-12, 8-0)
