No. 19 Saints Cruise Past Bard, 20-8

Twelve members of the 19th-ranked St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team scored, led by four goals apiece from Rachel Burke and Charlotte Powell to top Bard 20-8 in Liberty League action, Saturday afternoon in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.

Bella Hillman and Lillian York both scored two goals each, while Hillman assisted on another and caused one turnover. Brigette Gable won four draw controls and picked up two ground balls, while Neve Ley, Callie O'Neil and Jacqui Cloutier all won three draws for the Scarlet and Brown. Jaime Allan and Ella Brown both picked up two ground balls.

The Raptors were the first to the scoresheet, as Sarah Child scored her 25th goal of the season at 14:24, but the Saints, who scored in the double digits for the eighth time this season, went on a 10-0 run to build a 10-1 lead with 1:42 to play in the first quarter.

The run featured three straight goals from Powell, then three straight from Burke and back-to-back goals from Hillman.

Child would net her second of the game to close the first frame, 10-2.

The Raptors scored the first two of the second quarter, but the next six goals from the Saints, upped the Scarlet and Brown's lead to 16-4.

Both teams scored two goals in the fourth quarter, but the strong first-half showing sealed the win for St. Lawrence.

"The team rallied together today and moved the ball well," said head coach Chelsea Martin. "We looked to capitalize on transition opportunities and have a lot of different players see the field and make big plays today."

Child and Gillian Adkins led the Raptors with three goals each, while Rachael Yoder won nine draw controls and picked up three ground balls.

Raelynn Bovenzi recorded the win with one save, while Courtney Lynn and Paige Glasgow both saw time between the pipes for the Scarlet and Brown and made four saves each. Martha Pasatiempo made three saves before being relieved y Maggy Peyton.

St. Lawrence outshot Bard 36-21, including a 23-17 advantage in shots on goal. The Saints won 18 draw controls to Bard's 11, but the Raptors led 18-14 in ground balls.

With the win, St. Lawrence improved to 8-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference play, while Bard fell to 2-7 and 0-4, respectively.

The Saints will make a quick cross-town trip to take on SUNY Canton on Tuesday, April 5 at 5 p.m.
