Eleven members of the 11th-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team scored, led by four goals apiece from
Chris Jordan and
Jack Hennessey, as the Saints topped Vassar 19-7 in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon at North Country Field.
Jordan also tallied two assists, while Hennessey picked up one. Josh Huaitt finished with two goals and three assists, while
Ben Murtagh added two and
Mark Mahoney finished with one goal and three assists.
Judge Murphy,
Zadoc White,
Ben Kniskern,
Whit Knight,
Chase Malatesta and
Padraic Condon each scored once.
Joe Scarfi finished with a team best three caused turnovers and picked up four ground balls, while
Brendan Brigham went 8-for-11 in the faceoff circle and grabbed seven ground balls. Condon finished 8-for-10 at the faceoff dot.
Jordan struck first for the Scarlet and Brown, giving the Saints the 1-0 lead at 13:24, but the Brewers scored the next two and took a 2-1 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first.
That was the last lead Vassar would hold, as the Saints scored the next four and held a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.
St. Lawrence shutout Vassar in the second quarter, scoring five goals, to build a 10-3 lead at the break.
The Brewers struck first in the third, but the Saints continued their strong showing, outscoring the Brewers 5-1 in the third and 4-3 in the fourth to seal the win.
Seven members of the Brewers' squad scored once, while Riley Olds finished with a goal and an assist, while Thomas Cameron went 12-for-24 at the faceoff dot and picked up five ground balls.
All four of the Saints goaltenders saw time between the pipes, but
William Helm recorded the win with nine saves, while Jack Bagin made 20 for Vassar.
St. Lawrence led in shots on goal 41-18 and picked up 50 ground balls to the Brewers' 35. The Saints won 17 faceoffs to Vassar's 12 and capitalized on 1-of-5 man-up opportunities.
The Saints will make the trip down Route 11 to face Clarkson on Tuesday, April 19 at 5 p.m.
