The Saints had five players go 2-0 on the day as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team dominated New Paltz 8-1 on Wednesday morning at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 5-2, while New Paltz fell to 3-4-1.
St. Lawrence swept all three Doubles matches in the contest.
Lillian Sullivan and
Elena Styliades teamed up at number one to take down Trinity Chow and Anya Barteck 8-7 (7-3). At number two,
Catherine Gamble and
Caitlyn Avery defeated Onalee Batcheller and Alexandra Dratch 8-2. In the final Doubles match, the duo of
Meredith Macey and
Emily Harris earned an 8-7 (7-2) win over Isabel Van Der Veen and Loretta Donovan.
In the number two Singles, Gamble earned her second win defeating Barteck 6-2, 6-0, while her duos partner Avery won her number three Singles match 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 over Batcheller. Macey took on Van Der Veen in the number four spot taking the 6-3, 6-3 win, while her Doubles partner Harris won her matchup 6-0, 6-2 against Tatiana Barnett. At number six, Styliades lost the opening set 5-7 against Donovan, but battled all the way back 6-2, 10-7 to lock in the win.
The Scarlet and Brown will lineup for their final match of their Spring Break trip to Orlando tomorrow when they take on Bethel University at 11:30 a.m.
