Saints Women's Tennis Drops St. Scholastica 6-3 At UTSA National Campus

Catherine Gamble went 2-0 once again winning her Doubles and Singles match to lead the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team to a 6-3 over The College of St. Scholastica on Monday afternoon at the UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

St. Lawrence improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Saints of St. Scholastica fell to 3-2.

The Saints opened their match with a 2-1 lead after the Doubles round. In the number two spot, Gamble and Caitlyn Avery, who won as a team yesterday, teamed up once again taking down Martina Garcia and Anna Ritchie 8-5. At number three, Meredith Macey and Gabriella Dadoly nearly swept beating Ava Warren and Maya Nibbe 8-1.

In the Singles round, Lillian Sullivan got a big win in the number one spot 6-3, 6-2 over Julia Maier. At number two, Gamble completed another perfect day beating Madilyn Jankila 7-5, 4-6, 10-5.
At number four, Emily Harris swept Mishell Benitez 6-2, 6-0 in her lone match of the day. The Scarlet and Brown earned their sixth win in the number five spot from Elena Styliades. Styliades won the opening set 6-2 over Anna Ritchie, then won 7-6 (7-1) to close out the match.

St. Lawrence will look to keep their momentum rolling into tomorrow's match against Franklin and Marshall College. The two teams will serve it up at the Fort Gatlin Tennis Center at 11:30 a.m.
