The Saints dominated the Singles portion of their match winning five of six as the St. Lawrence women's tennis team defeated Coe College 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Sanlando Park in Orlando, Fla.
St. Lawrence improved to 3-1 with the win, while Coe fell to 8-4.
The match started in the doubles, where just one duo earned wins for the Scarlet and Brown. In number two Doubles,
Catherine Gamble and
Caitlyn Avery teamed up to defeat Jania Carter-Johnson and Madison Schultz.
Coe took a 2-1 lead after the Doubles round. However, the Singles portion of the match was a different story with St. Lawrence claiming five of six to secure the 6-3 win.
In the number one spot,
Lillian Sullivan avenged her Doubles loss with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Madison Schultz. At number two, Gamble eanred her second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Isabella Hoppenjans.
At number three, Avery also earned her second win with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Jania. Carter-Johnson.
Meredith Macey picked up a win at number four winning 6-4, 6-2 against Claudia Bilkey. The final Saints win came at number five where
Elena Styliades dropped the first set 6-4 (7-3) before winning 6-4, and 10-5 to secure the win.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back in action tomorrow when they take on The College of St. Scholastica at 12:00 p.m.
