Saints Score Final Sixteen, Top Hobart 66-46

Box Score The St. Lawrence men's basketball team used a big second half to beat the Hobart Statesmen 66-46 and head coach Chris Downs earned his 350th career win in Geneva, N.Y. on Friday night.

Luke Hicks scored a season-high 22 points and hit three 3-pointers to lead the Saints' offense.

The Saints trailed 29-28 early in the second half, when Hicks hit a 3-pointer to retake the lead. On the next possession, he was fouled on a shot behind the line and hit all three of those free throws. A Hobart layup slowed the run, but St. Lawrence answered with nine straight to lead 43-31 with 13:26 left.

The Statesmen scored 11 of the next 13 to get within three at 45-42. The teams traded buckets, and with six minutes to play St. Lawrence had a 50-46 lead. The Saints locked down on defense and did not let up another score for the rest of the game. They would score the final 16 points of the game to win 66-46. The Statesmen missed their final six shots, while St. Lawrence scored on each of their final seven possessions.

"Defensively we were dialed in," said head coach Chris Downs. "In the first half we rebounded the ball well, I was disappointed with our second half rebounding. We have a big game against RIT on Saturday."

Hicks shot 6-for-9 the field and 7-for-7 from the free throw line on his way to 22 points. Trent Adamson had 14 points and eight rebounds in a team high 34 minutes. Gavin Macaulay had two 3-pointers and ended with 11 points. Miles Davis came off the bench and added seven points to the campaign.

Jackson Meshanic and Aidan Rodgers each had 10 for the Statesmen.

The Saints shot 48-percent in the second half from the floor, and held Hobart to 32-percent second half shooting.
