Nara Elia scored on the power play and the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team honored the Class of 2022, as the Saints closed out the regular season with a 9-1 loss to the eighth-ranked Colgate Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena.
With the loss, the Saints moved to 14-13-7 on the season and 10-8-4 in ECAC play, while Colgate improved to 26-7-1 and 16-5-1.
The Raiders made quick work, as Danielle Serdacny, Kalty Kaltounkova and Eleri MacKay all scored to give Colgate a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Tanner Gate and Allyson Simpson tallied two goals within the first ten minutes of the second period to give the Raiders a 5-0 advantage.
Elia tallied the lone goal for the Saints on the power play at 12:28 of the second frame.
Rachel Teslak, passed the puck to Chloé Puddifant, who sent the puck through traffic and across the crease to Elia, who deflected the puck past Raiders' goaltender Hannah Murphy for the goal.
Kaltounkova scored her second of the game on the power play to increase the Colgate lead to 6-1.
Serdachny, Eleri MacKay and Delani MacKay would add one more goal apiece for the 9-1 final.
"Colgate is a fast team and came ready to play," said head coach
Chris Wells '92. "It wasn't the result we were looking for today, but we're so proud of our seniors and grateful for all their contributions to the program over the past four seasons."
"We're all back to 0-0 now and we're really looking forward to the quarterfinals next weekend at Yale, Wells added."
Senior
Jaimie Rainville made 32 saves for the Saints, while Murphy made 22 for the Raiders.
Grace Smith played the final three minutes and 44 seconds in goal for the Scarlet and Brown.
St. Lawrence went 1-for-2 on the power play, while Colgate went 2-for-3. The Raiders outshot the Saints 41-23.Â

The seventh-seeded Saints will start their quest for the ECAC Championship title, as they travel to second-seeded Yale for a best-of-three series with the Bulldogs, February 24-26. Puck drops at 6 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday if needed.
