Four Saints went 2-0 on the day as the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team defeated SUNY Oneonta 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at Newell Field House.
The day started off in doubles where the Scarlet and Brown won all three matchups.
Ben Moolman and
Nathan Turtledove teamed up in the number one doubles spot and earned the 8-5 win over Oneonta's number ones. In the number two spot,
Broderick Pinto and
Adam Heilbronner earned the perfect 8-0 sweep, then
Nico Haet and
John Hill-Edgar won in the number three spot 8-3 to complete the 3-0 team start.
In the singles portion of the match, Moolman went to 2-0 on the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mason Spottek in the number two spot. Haet joined his teammate winning 6-2, 6-0 for his second win of the day in the three spot. Heilbronner and Pinto also went perfect on the day after gaining sweep wins in the number five and six matches respectively.
In his lone match of the day,
Edvin Strandberg played Jacob Dornsife in the number four singles match and won handily 6-0, 6-1.
The Saints will travel to RIT on Friday, March 4th for a matchup against the Tigers at 3:00 p.m., then will head to Saratoga Springs for a 1:00 p.m. match with Skidmore on Saturday, March 5th.
