Five Saints finished in double figures, as the St. Lawrence men's basketball team beat Union 81-62 on Saturday afternoon in Burkman Gymnasium. The Saints clinched a first round playoff game with the win, and will host Skidmore on February 22.

The Saints jumped out to an 18-2 lead, with senior Luke Hicks scoring nine points in the opening six minutes. The scarlet and brown would lead by as many as 17-points in the opening half, and led at the break 39-26.

The Dutchmen were never able to get the score to single digits, and Will Engelhardt had eight points in under two minutes to extend the lead to 63-41 with ten minutes left to play. The score never got closer than 16, and the Saints held on to win 81-62.

"We have played two close games with Skidmore and Tuesday night will be a real challenge," said head coach Chris Downs. "We will work hard to prepare and see what happens."

Trent Adamson had a 20 point, 11 rebound double-double, and Engelhardt finished with an 18 points, 10 rebound double-double of his own. Engelhardt hit four shots from deep, and the Saints finished with 10 3-pointers. Hicks finished with a dozen, including a trio of 3-pointers, and Trey Syroka and Gavin Macaulay each had 11.

The Saints shot over 51-percent from the floor and hit 50-percent of their 3-pointers. They held union to 38.7-percent from the floor and 28.6-percent from deep.

Brian Noone led all scorers with 29 for Union, and Mike Manley had 18.
