Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Ithaca Hands Saints First Road Loss

The St. Lawrence women's basketball team lost on the road for the first time this season, falling in Ithaca to the Bombers 66-52 on Saturday afternoon.

Katie Frederick had 15 points and 17 rebounds, but the Saints' 18 turnovers were too much to overcome.

The Saints led 17-16 midway through the second quarter, but the Bombers ended the half on a 12-6 run to lead by five at the break.

Ithaca continued their scoring in the second half, scoring the first six points to extend their lead to 34-23. An Abby Doin 3-pointer followed up an Olivia Barringer layup to cut the lead to seven, but the Bombers responded with a layup and a 3-pointer at the buzzer to go into the final quarter up 50-38.

Less than four minutes into the final quarter, Ithaca extended their lead to 19, which was too steep of a lead for St. Lawrence to come back from.

"We needed to play well today to beat a good team like Ithaca and we did not," said head coach Dan Roiger. "Ithaca forced us into many turnovers, we didn't hit the boards well, and we missed many good shots. They earned a victory today."

Ava McCann hit a trio of triples on her way to 11 points. The Saints out-shot the Bombers six-to-one from deep. St. Lawrence shot 35-percent from the floor, and Ithaca shot 38-percent off of 14 more shots.

Grace Cannon lead all scorers with 19 points for the Bombers, and Lindsey Albertelli added a baker's dozen off the bench.

The Saints, who out-rebound their opponents by 12 per game, were out-rebounded 44-37.
