Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Saints Explosive Offense Tops Geneseo 85-70

The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team finished the 2022 half of their season with a 85-70 win on Saturday afternoon on the road against Geneseo. The Saints hit 15 3-pointers and shot 51.9-percent from the floor.

Will Engelhardt had a season high 22-points, including six triples, and dished five assists. Trent Adamson continued his consistent post play with 14 points and nine boards, shooting six for seven from the floor. Each also added a pair of blocks.

The difference in the game came over the final five and a half minutes of the first half. The Saints out-scored the Knights 21-4 to go into the break leading 42-25. Liam McDonald hit three 3-pointers in that stretch, and Engelhardt had a dozen first half points.

Aidan Macaulay hit a three to start the second half and extend the lead to 20. Six minutes into the half McDonald hit his fourth and final three of the game to extend the lead to 26, the largest of the game. McDonald was a perfect four for four from the floor, all beyond the arc. Geneseo went on a run towards the end of the game, but Trey Syroka and Gavin Macaulay hit their free throws and the Saints won 85-70.

Along with Engelhardt and Adamson, Gavin Macaulay finished with 13 points, five assists, and five rebounds, and Syroka had 10 points, six assists, and three steals.

The Saints finished the game shooting 50-percent from deep on a season high 30 attempts. The team's 20 assists are also a season high.

"The made shots today were a product of us being more unselfish and looking to create opportunities for each other," said head coach Chris Downs. "We can go into break realizing what we need to do moving forward."
