Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Saints Win Third Straight

Aidan Macaulay had 16 points and six rebounds to pace the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 68-52 win over cross town-rivals Canton on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Macaulay led all scorers and senior Trey Syroka continued his hot start to the season by scoring 15 and dishing out three assists.

The Saints got off to a hot start. A dunk from Trent Adamson put the team up 9-2 with just over four minutes played. A few minutes later the Roos strung together a small run, but Jack Wirtanen hit a layup and a dunk in under 20 seconds to slow them down. The Roos continued to fight, and made it a two-point game with just over six minutes left, and St. Lawrence used a timeout to regroup. The Scarlet and Brown scored 13 straight points, and after a last second layup by Canton the Saints led 36-23 at halftime.

The Saints continued to control the game in the second half, and first-year Alexi Twahili hit a free throw to push the lead to 28. The Roos were able to mount a small comeback and get the game to within 14, but ran out of time, and the Saints won their third game in four days 68-52.

Trent Adamson finished with a well-rounded six points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Wirtanen and Macaulay also finished with six. A dozen Saints scored.

DeMerrill Levy led the Roos with 12 points, and Brennan Harmer added 11.

The Saints improved to 3-0, with three wins over North Country foes this week. Canton fell to 1-4 on the season.

The Saints return to Burkman Gymnasium after Thanksgiving break with where they face no. 6-ranked Williams at 2 p.m. on November 27th.
