Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Saints Remain Undefeated in Conference, Top RIT 4-0

The St. Lawrence University's men's soccer team used four first-half goals to beat RIT in Rochester on Saturday afternoon and improve to 3-0-1 in the league and 7-1-4 overall.

St. Lawrence jumped on the board early capitalizing off a Tigers turnover. The RIT goalkeeper had possession of the ball and attempted to make a pass to his center back, who fell on the play. Marco Wong stole the ball as the Saints jumped on the odd-man rush. Wong played a give-and-go and slide tackled a ball over to Miles Levy, who booted the ball in to claim the 1-0 lead.

Minutes later, the Scarlet and Brown would double their lead off a goal from Sam Pijpers, A Saints' throw in quickly turned into a scoring chance as RIT played a ball into the air that was headed by Levy over to Pijpers in the middle of the Tigers' box. Pijpers settled the ball and fired a low shot past the keeper to give St. Lawrence the 2-0 lead.

The Scarlet and Brown kept rolling as they took a 3-0 lead minutes later when Miles Levy connected with Ryan Campbell who found the back of the net. Marvin Sibanda converted a penalty kick to make it four first half goals for the Saints.

RIT had six shots on goal in the second half to the Saints' one, but Ben Woelfinger and his defenders did their jobs and earned the team's fifth clean sheet of the campaign.

The Tigers led in shots on goal (8-5), and corner kicks (5-1). Woelfinger made eight saves for the Saints, and Tiger goalkeeper Jason Trapp made one.

Head coach Mike Toshack
"The team came out in the first half and put together an impressive performance against a good team. Many players were able to get minutes today and help the team keep another clean sheet. We now look to a big weekend at home next weekend against Bard and Vassar."
