Sam Cohen scored her first career goal for the Saints, but the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team fell 6-1 to Vassar College at Gordon Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Scarlet and Brown fell to 6-4-2 and 2-3-1 in Liberty League play, while Vassar improved to 7-4-3 and 3-2-1 in conference action.
The Brewers got on the board first at the 8:51 mark as Claire Karlin put home a feed from Violet Munnelly to give Vassar a 1-0 lead that would last until halftime.
Things went fast and furious in the second half and Violet Munnelly scored twice in the opening ten minutes of the half. Karlin then scored under a minute later off a pass by Justine Tapert to claim a 4-0 lead.
At 75:52, Cohen got the Saints on the board with the first goal of her career.
Lily Pleau earned the second assist of her career as she fed a pass to Cohen, who beat Teresa Zimmer.
The Brewers would tack on two more insurance tallies in the final five minutes and change as Madison Bouggess, and Ashley Butler potted goals.
Keely Snode had one save in 61:31 of action, while
Darcie McDonough stopped three shots in the final 28:29. Zimmer stopped five of six shots in the Vassar frame.
The Saints will comeback home and begin preparing for Saturday, October 22 where the Scarlet and Brown will celebrate the Class of 2023 before their game against Skidmore College at 3:00 p.m.
