The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team kept its Liberty League game with Clarkson close for the first 20 minutes, but the Golden Knights closed the first half with a 6-0 run to take a 9-2 halftime lead and he Saints were unable to recover, falling by an 18-10 score on Saturday afternoon in Potsdam.
Clarkson scored the first goal of the second half, but the Saints scored three of the next four to trim the deficit to six goals, 11-5, but the Golden Knights responded with the next four goals to put the game out of reach.
Kylie Murphy scored four goals to lead St. Lawrence in scoring, while Isabel Sylvia added two goals and two assists.
Jaime Allan also scored two goals for the Saints, who fell to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Sydney Roderick scored three goals and added four assists for a game-high seven points for Clarkson. Madelynn Barnum added four goals and one assist, and Grace Hagberg also scored four goals for the Golden Knights, who improved to 4-5, 2-3.
Annie Vatcher had three ground balls and three caused turnovers for St. Lawrence, while
Jacqui Cloutier had four draw controls.
The Saints are scheduled to face Skidmore next weekend in a home-and-home series, hosting the Thoroughbreds on Friday before traveling to Saratoga Springs on Saturday.
