St. Lawrence University men's hockey players
David Jankowski,
Emil Zetterquist and
Tucker McIntosh swept the ECAC Hockey weekly awards on Monday, two days after claiming the 2021 ECAC Hockey title.
Jankowski was named the Army ROTC Player of the Week, Zetterquist the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week, and McIntosh the Adirondack Health Rookie of the Week.
Jankowski was named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Hockey championship after scoring the game-winning goal to beat Quinnipiac in the championship in overtime. He added an assist earlier on the first goal of the game to give the Saints the lead early in the first period, and also assisted on a goal in the third period of St. Lawrence's semifinal win over Colgate on Thursday.
Zetterquist made 24 saves in Saturday's championship game and added 39 in Thursday's semifinal. He stopped a total of 11 shots in overtime on the week, including nine on Thursday. For the week, he posted a .913 save percentage.
McIntosh reentered the lineup in Thursday's semifinal game with Colgate after suffering what was thought to be a season-ending injury in the Saints' 1-1 tie with the Raiders on January 10, just five games into the season. He wasted no time in making an impact, scoring his first career scoring just 4:17 into the first period to give the Saints a 1-0 lead, then adding another to give St. Lawrence a 4-3 lead early in the third period. The rookie defenseman also made an impact on the defensive end, blocking four shots in the championship game.Â
The ECAC Hockey championship is the seventh league title in program history, and the first since 2001.
