St. Lawrence University and the Hockey Alumni Association have announced the unfortunate news that the 2021-2022 Legends of Appleton Induction ceremony and the events scheduled for December 3-4 will be postponed until next season. After reviewing the necessary COVID-19 restrictions and precautions that are in place, it became clear that alumni, campus community members, and the local community would not be able to adequately honor Coach
Joe Marsh and duly celebrate the meaningful contributions he has made to St. Lawrence University and the hockey world.
"The University and Hockey Alumni Association are committed to doing this right for Joe, his family and guests, and our hockey alumni community. We look forward to his induction into the Legends of Appleton, as well as the dedication of the
Joe Marsh Men's Hockey Team Suite, when we have the ability to socialize and enjoy the type of festivities you are accustomed to having," said Scott Lasky '05 , Executive Chairman of the Hockey Alumni Association, and
Bob Durocher, Senior Associate Vice President for Athletics, in a joint statement. "We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused those planning to attend and we truly appreciate your understanding around our decision."
The men's and women's hockey games scheduled for Friday and Saturday, December 3 and 4, will be played as planned. The women take on Clarkson in a home-and-home series, while the men host Cornell and Colgate.
The Hockey Alumni Association and the University will be reviewing options for next year's Legends of Appleton Weekend as schedules are finalized.
