Saints Beat Buffalo State, Finish Season 5-5 on the Season

First-year quarterback Daniel Lawther was 6-for-14 passing for 173 yards and Mason Guinta rushed for 111 yards to lead the St. Lawrence University football team to a 41-6 win over Buffalo State in the season finale on Saturday afternoon at Coyer Field.

Lawther recorded three touchdowns on the afternoon, while Peyton Schmitt rushed for 93 yards on 11 attempts and caught two passes for 89 yards. Jabob Dreisbach led the Saints defense with nine tackles and one tackle for the loss, while Brian Casazza recorded seven tackles and one TFL. Devin Kelley finished with six tackles, while Reece Gillette recorded three tackles, 1.5 tackles for the loss for five yards and one sack. Tyler Liddy made five punts for 182 yards, while Ian Doin coverted 5-for-6 extra-point kicks.

Lawther connected with Schmitt, who rushed for 75 yards, his longest run of the season) scoring the first touchdown of the game for the Scarlet and Brown.

Bengals quarterback Thomas Dupee connected with Nas Jackson for a 14-yard pass to put Buffalo State on the board at 12:29 of the fourth frame, making the final score 41-6 in favor of the Saints.

Dupee was 5-for-14 passing for 83 yards, while Cam Sionko was 15-for-26 passing for 114 yards. Tariq Nelson caught eight passes for 79 yards, while Cody Phillips led the Bengals defense with 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for the loss. Joseph Gibson recorded one sack.

St. Lawrence held a 18-15 edge in first-down conversions, rushed 222 yards to the Bengals' 70 and led 31:36-to-28:24 for possession time.

The Saints closed their 2021 season 5-5 overall, matching their overall record from 2019, and 2-4 in Liberty League play, while Buffalo State ended its season 0-10 and 0-6.
