Keely Snode stopped nine shots, but the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team fell short losing 2-0 to RIT at Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints fell to 4-4-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the Liberty League. The Tigers improved to 6-2-3 and 1-1-1 in conference play.
"Today was another tough day for us," said head coach
Sinead McSharry "We're the wounded walking right now with injuries. We left eight at home, and lost two more today. Hard luck prevails but we will bounce back next week."
Twelve minutes and 22 seconds into the game, RIT got on the board first. Morgan Monteith sent a through ball to the right corner that skipped past a few St. Lawrence defenders. Elle Hallock collected the ball and took it to the byline, where she fired a low pass to the top of the six-yard box, finding Emma Schock, who one-timed the ball to the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead.
Schock got her second goal of the game 10:28 into the second half when Monteith fired a shot from roughly 25 yards over the head of Snode. The attempt bounced off the crossbar perfectly to Schock's feet, where she tapped in the ball for the 2-0 lead.
Snode stopped nine shots for the Scarlet and Brown, while Alyssa Salls made two saves for the Tigers.
RIT had a decisive 22-4 advantage in shots and a 11-2 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers had three corner-kicks, while St. Lawrence had just one.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back at the friendly confines of Sandy MacAllaster Field next weekend for a two-game set with Bard and Vassar. The Saints will take on the Raptors at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon, then will face the Brewers at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
