The 1-0 scoreline stood until the Saints lined up for a penalty corner midway through the third quarter.
Mckenzie Haberl sent the ball to
Mary Clark, who fired the ball hard and low towards goal. First-year midfielder Carley Hansen was streaking towards goal and got enough stick on the ball to redirect it into the back of the cage.
Just two minutes later
Morgan Misiaszek sent the ball into the circle to Haberl, who turned and shot the ball into the net to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. After another two minutes, the Saints again lined up for a penalty corner. This time Haberl passed shot to
Suzanne L'Hommedieu, who lofted a pass high to the back post, where
Ciara Halloran was waiting to knock it down into the cage for a 3-1 Saints lead.
Just as the fourth period began, the Cardinals had a scrum in front of the net, where Emma Cooper was able to knock it through the confusion into the cage to bring the score within one. The 3-2 scoreline would hold until the final whistle.
"Another great rally from the team," said head coach
Fran Grembowicz. "It took a little while to get the ball in the net but our defense held strong. Our offensive corner unit was tremendous today. I'm very proud of our entire team and happy for the win for our seniors."
St. Lawrence and St. John Fisher each finished with 13 shots on goal. The Saints had 12 penalty corners to the Cardinals' four.
Adiutori made three first half saves, and
Cara Vredenburg made eight in the second half. Sophia Trozzi made 10 saves in goal for St. John Fisher.
