Hicks Double-Doubles; Saints Fall to Dutchmen, Remain Tied for Fifth in League Standings

Four members of the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team recorded double digits, but Union topped the Saints 79-64 in Liberty League action on Friday night in Burkman Gymnasium.

Sophomore Luke Hicks led the Saints with a double-double posting a team-best 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Trent Adamson finished with 14 points. Andrew Geschickter added 13 and Chris Jeffrey finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Brandon Arnold grabbed three steals for the Saints.

The Saints took an early 7-3 lead over Union, but the Dutchmen rallied and took a 14-13 lead on a 3-pointer from Mike Concannon. After a quick back-and-forth struggle for the lead, Union went on a 13-4 run, shooting three consecutive 3-pointers, to lead 34-24 with 6:03 remaining in the first half. Union closed the half with a 48-30 lead.

A fastbreak layup from Brian Noone increased the Dutchmen's lead to 23 points, their largest of the game at 18:34 of the second half. The Saints managed to bring the game back within single digits six times, but the Dutchmen shot 6-for-7 from the line for the win.



Concannon led the Dutchmen squad with 18 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the arc, while Noone tallied seven rebounds.

The Saints shot 45.9 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from 3-point range, while Union shot 39.4 and 41.2 percent, respectively.

St. Lawrence fell to 8-15 overall and 6-11 in conference play, while Union improved to 14-9 and 11-6. The Saints are currently locked in a five-way tie for fifth place in the conference standings heading into the final game of the regular season.

The Saints will host Rensselaer on senior day, Saturday, February 22 at 4 p.m.
