Hicks Scores 21, Saints Fall to Ithaca on the Road

Luke Hicks scored a team-best 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded three steals, but the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell to Ithaca 98-71 in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, New York.

Hicks shot 5-for-9 from 3-point range, while first-year Andrew Geschickter added 16 points and Brandon Arnold scored 12. Trent Adamson grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Arnold assisted on five plays for the Saints.

Ithaca secured an early lead on a 3-pointer from Riley Thompson, but the Saints were able to hold the Bombers within a single digit margin throughout the majority of the first half. The Saints brought the game within four multiple times, but weren't able to come any closer and trailed 46-40 at halftime.

The Bombers posted an 8-3 run to bring their lead back to double digits and increased their lead to 21 points on a 3-pointer from Sebastian Elderete with 9:30 remaining in the second half.

Ithaca closed the game on a 9-2 run featuring back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers from Thompson (2) and Lucas Joshi.

Thompson led the Bombers with 36 points, shooting 10-for-19 from the arc, while Sebastian Alderete went 10-for-16 from the floor for 22 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds. Sklar Sinon, Jake Mitchell and Bryan Karl also tallied double-digits for Ithaca.

Ithaca combined to shoot 52.0 percent from the field and 47.5 percent from the arc, while the Saints shot 41.5 and 32.1, respectively.

The Saints fell to 8-14 on the season and 6-10 in conference play, while the Bombers improved to 18-5 and 13-3.

St. Lawrence will wrap up the regular season at home hosting Union and Rensselaer on February 21 and 22, respectively.
