Saints Fall to Hobart in Liberty League Action

Trent Adamson scored 25 points and Cale Sargent added a season-best 20 points, but the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell to Hobart, 93-77, in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon in Burkman Gymnasium.

Adamson shot 9-for-21 from the floor and a perfect 7-for-7 from the line and grabbed six rebounds and two steals for the Saints, while Sargent shot 3-for-3 from 3-point range and added three rebounds. First-year Andrew Geschickter finished with 14 points, while Brandon Arnold went 2-for-3 from the arc and totaled 12 points.

Hobart opened the game with an early lead and extended its lead to double digits within the first eight minutes of play. The Statesmen continued to extend their lead, posting a 52-40 advantage at halftime.

The Saints brought the game back within single digits early on back-to-back layups from Arnold and Geschickter, but the Statesmen pushed their lead to 22 points on a 3-pointer from Tucker Lescoe with 11:34 remaining. Foul trouble plagued both teams throughout the second half, as both teams entered the double bonus with over 10 minutes remaining. Hobart continued to outscore the Saints 41-37 in the second half for the win.



Jackson Meshanic shot 13-for-15 from the floor and led the Statesmen with 29 points, seven assists and six rebounds, Lescoe shot 6-for-7 from the arc and added 25 points, while Sam Allen added 11. Edens Fleurizard grabbed seven rebounds and posted three blocks for Hobart.

Hobart combined to shoot 61.8 percent from the floor, including 52.6 percent from the arc, while the Saints shot 40.0 and 33.3 percent, respectively. St. Lawrence finished with 20 points off turnovers, while Hobart recorded 25 points off the bench.

St. Lawrence fell to 5-10 on the season and 3-6 in conference play, while the Statesmen improved to 14-3 and 8-2.

The Saints will host Clarkson on Tuesday, January 28. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
