Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Potter Nets OT Winner, Saints Edge RPI in League Action

First-year Tyler Potter scored her third goal of the season 51 seconds into overtime to lead the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Rensselaer in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon in Troy, New York.

After a scoreless first half, Fiona Murphy put the Engineers on the board in the 69th minute after capitalizing on a pass from Jacqui Richard.

Julia Mulhern, whose original header was saved by Engineers' goalkeeper Joey Lyons, capitalized on the rebound and notched her sixth goal of the season to tie the game up 1-1 in the 86th minute of play.

Isabel Silvia found Potter, beat Lyons just outside the 8-yard box, for the overtime winner in the 91st minute to seal the win for the Saints.

"I'm so proud of this group," said head coach Sinead McSharry. "I threw a lot at them during various phases of the game and they got on with it without hesitation. Unreal way to seal a victory."

Saints' goalkeeper Samantha Allen finished with three saves, while Joey Lyons recorded eight saves for Rensselaer.

The Scarlet and Brown outshot the Engineers 15-12 and held a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal.

St. Lawrence improved to 7-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play, while Rensselaer fell to 3-3-2 and 1-1-0.

The Saints will host Ithaca on Saturday, October 5 at 3 p.m.
