Marvin Sibanda scored early, but Clarkson's Cam Emde-Gerdine scored in the 86th minute as the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team and the Golden Knights battled through two overtime periods to a 1-1 tie in the Liberty League opener on Wednesday night in Potsdam, New York.

Sam Sapnar set up Sibanda, who put the ball in lower-right-hand corner, in just the seventh minute of play to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Emde-Gerdine also found the bottom-right corner off the pass from Jevaughn Sinclair to tie the game at 85:18.
Saints' goalkeeper
Ben Woelfinger made four saves, while Clarkson's Ian Roeloffs also recorded four.
Clarkson out shot the Saints 10-8, while both teams recorded five shots on goal. Clarkson recorded two shots in the first overtime, for the only two shots in the extra frames.Â
The Golden Knights finished with three corner kicks to the Saints' two.
The Saints moved to 3-3-1 on the season, while Clarkson moved to 4-3-1. Both teams sit at 0-0-1 in conference play.
St. Lawrence will host Rensselaer this Saturday, September 28 at 2 p.m. on Family Weekend.
