Sophomore
Isabel Silvia scored two goals to lead the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday evening in Potsdam, New York.
Silvia gave the Saints an early 1-0 with her second goal of the season in the second minute of play, after lofting the ball from about 30 yards out into an empty Potsdam net.
Silvia scored her second of the game off the pass from
Emily Wade in the 14th minute to lift the Saints up 2-0.
Potsdam's Lexi Dean scored back-to-back goals in the 30th and 40th minute to tie the game 2-2. Maeve Morrissey assisted on Dean's second goal.
Julia Mulhern then beat two Potsdam defenders down the side line, took the shot from the corner of the 18-yard box, scoring the game winner and her fifth of the season in the 67th minute of play.
SUNY Potsdam outshot the Saints 22-19 and held a 16-11 edge in shots on goal. The Bears also took six corner kicks to the Saints' five.Â
Saints' goalkeeper
Samantha Allen finished with eight saves, while
Cynnie White made six. Bears' goalkeeper Delphine Leonard made eight saves.
St. Lawrence improved to 5-1 on the season, while the Bears fell to 4-4.
The Scarlet and Brown will travel to Schenectady, New York to open Liberty League play against Union on Saturday, September 21 at 3 p.m.
