Rochester's win at No. 5 singles helped the Yellowjackets edge the St. Lawrence women's tennis team 5-4 on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, New York.
Rochester built a 2-1 lead through doubles play with the Saints' No. 3 pairing of
Carly Jefferson and
Maddie Nasch winning the team's first match of the day, 8-5.
Katherine Apt pulled the Saints even with an opening win at No. 2 singles over the Yellowjackets Abbey Reinhart, 6-4, 6-0.
The teams then traded wins through the next three matches, with
Christina Ryan winning at No. 3 to once again tie the match, this time at 3-3, before Rochester posted wins at No. 4 and then to clinch at No. 5.
With the match already decided, Jefferson edged Olivia Waysack 7-6, 7-3 at No. 6 to finish the match.
