Carly Jefferson led the St. Lawrence women's tennis team with a three-set win at No. 6 singles, but the Saints fell to Vassar, 8-1, in Liberty League action on Saturday in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Jefferson fell in the first set 4-6, but rebounded for a 6-4 win in the second and doubled up Vassar's Joyce Park, 10-5, in the superbreaker to help the Saints to a point.
All the other singles matches with 2-0 decisions for Vassar, though
Caroline Reilly battled Frances Cornwall in their second set at No. 1, eventually falling 5-7.
Christina Ryan also pushed Tara Edwards into a tiebreak in their second set at No. 3, but Edwards prevailed 7-6 to win the match.
