Carly Jefferson,
Maddie Nasch and
Christina Ryan won in both doubles and singles play on Friday night, as the St. Lawrence women's tennis team beat Union, 6-3, in a Liberty League match in Schenectady, New York.
Jefferson and Nasch teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles and Ryan and partner
Grace van Tartwijk followed with an 8-1 win in the No. 2 spot to put the Saints in front 2-0 early in the match.
With a 2-1 lead heading into singles St. Lawrence was able to seal the match with four straight singles wins, including Jefferson's win at No. 6 which clinched it for the Saints.
Ryan started the four-match streak with a 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 and
Caroline Reilly followed with a straight win of her own (6-2, 6-1) at No. 1 over Union's Tal Pezzuco.
Jefferson beat Alex Greenberg, 6-3, 6-2 in the sixth spot for the deciding fifth point for the Saints, before Nasch rounded out the day with a win over Cathy Xing at No. 5.
Heading into Sunday's match against William Smith, the Saints are fifth in the Liberty League standings with a 4-3 record against conference opponents.
