The St. Lawrence men's tennis team fell to Union, 6-3, on Friday night in the first of two Liberty League matches of the weekend in Schenectady, New York.
Joshua Marvald and
Nico Haet were winners at No. 2 doubles for the Saints, while
Alec Roslin and
Jordan Mamelak won their singles matches at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, against the Dutchmen.
Marvald and Haet gave the Saints an early 1-0 lead with an 8-7 (3) win over Union's Austin and Max Egna, but the Dutchmen won at No. 1 and No. 3 and also won three straight matches in singles play to clinch the win.
With Union leading 5-1, Mamelak beat Max Egna 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 before Roslin closed out the match with a three-set win over Austin Egna, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 4 for third St. Lawrence point.
Heading into Sunday's match at Hobart, St. Lawrence is tied with Union for sixth in the Liberty League standings with a 3-4 record against conference opponents.
