Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Saints Season Ends with Loss at Hobart

The St. Lawrence men's tennis team concluded its 2019 season with a 9-0 loss to No. 35 Hobart in Geneva, New York on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Spencer Whitmire put up a valiant effort in his last collegiate match against the Statesmen, as he and partner Alec Roslin forced a tiebreak at No. 3 doubles before they were eventually bested 8-7 (5) by Hobart' Colin Molloy and Thomas Shung.

Whitmire also battled back after a loss in the opening set of his match at No. 3 singles to beat Jack Ledford, 6-3, in the second to push to a decisive superbreaker. Ledford prevailed 10-7 over the Boston native.

Both Jordan Mamelak and Arman Tavana went deep into the second set of their matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, but fell in straight sets by the same score of 6-4, 7-5.

St. Lawrence finishes the season seventh in the Liberty League standings thus just missing a postseason berth. Hobart meanwhile, heads into the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed.
